MEDWAY – A man who livestreamed an armed mental health breakdown from a home in Medway last weekend is now facing charges for assaulting police officers.
Medway Police say the incident happened Saturday morning at a residence on Winthrop Street, where the man was reportedly armed with a knife and barricaded inside a bathroom. Authorities say viewers watching the livestream on YouTube became concerned and contacted police to request help on his behalf.
Police were able to take the man into custody without serious incident at the home. However, Medway Police report that while officers were conducting a mental health evaluation in the booking room, the man allegedly became combative and assaulted officers, injuring one of them.
Officials also say the man is wanted on outstanding charges in Kentucky. Following the altercation, he was transported to Bridgewater State Hospital for evaluation and was later arraigned in court on Monday.
