WORCESTER – Investigators say they have recovered more than $100,000 stolen from at least 13 Massachusetts residents in a cryptocurrency scam.

The case began last April when a Worcester County resident reported losing $13,000 after being instructed to deposit money into a cryptocurrency ATM. According to Patch, investators were able to trace the funds to a digital wallet exchange known as Tether, which contained more than $109,000 in assets.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and the FBI joined the investigation and are now working to identify and notify all potential victims connected to the scam.
