Bellingham Warns Residents About Permit Payment Email Scam

BELLINGHAM – Town officials are warning residents and businesses about fraudulent emails targeting people who are applying for permits and licenses in Bellingham.

Officials say scammers are making the messages appear legitimate by using Town of Bellingham logos and referencing actual property addresses and projects. The fraudulent emails include fake billing invoices and instruct recipients to either wire money or make a payment by clicking a provided link.

The Town says it does not send emails containing links requesting payment for permit fees or other municipal bills. Residents and businesses should only make payments through the official Town of Bellingham website or in person at Town offices and should be cautious of unexpected payment requests.
