Greenstein’s Late Bucket Lifts Valley Tech Past AMSA, Beavers Extend Win Streak

Blackstone Valley’s boys basketball squad continued its strong start, improving to 6-1 with a dramatic 49-48 comeback win over AMSA Monday night. The Beavers trailed 24-18 at the half and faced a tight fourth quarter, but Lucas Greenstein delivered the heroics, hitting the go-ahead bucket with under five seconds left after Boston Jack had pulled the margin to one.

The victory was a team effort. Dylan Dean and Ace Cupid each scored 10 points to help provide balance, and Bryton Buckley chipped in eight. Valley Tech’s defense tightened down the stretch, forcing contested shots and creating the transition chances that set up the late finish. The Beavers have now strung together four straight wins since a mid-December loss at Hopedale, and that run has them averaging 60.14 points per game while allowing 51 points.

Blackstone Valley will host Oxford tonight at 6:30 p.m. in a chance to lengthen the streak to five. The Beavers will look to ride Greenstein’s late-game poise and the backcourt scoring of Dean and Cupid. If they can sustain that balance and avoid fourth-quarter lapses, Valley Tech should continue to be a factor in the early-season standings.
