WESTBOROUGH — All systems are “go” on the renovation of the Westborough library. The library director tells the Community Advocate that the $12 million renovation project, which began six months ago, remains on schedule and on budget.

She says staff plan to move back into the building in August, with a grand reopening for the public expected in September. The project includes major upgrades such as a new HVAC system, new bathrooms, and a new sprinkler system, along with restoration and reglazing of the library’s historic windows and rebuilding of the chimneys.

In addition, the renovation will bring a piece of the building’s history back to life, as a skylight dating back to 1907 — which was covered during a 1980 upgrade — will be put back into use.
