Blackstone Valley Tech continued its hot start with a convincing 59-31 win over Douglas on Monday night, a performance driven by defensive discipline and efficient scoring. The Beavers outscored the Tigers in every quarter and limited Douglas to nine points or fewer in each period.
Kellen Keane paced the offense with 18 points while Ayden Joseph supplied 13 and helped maintain offensive balance. The team’s defensive plan stifled Douglas’ rhythm, forcing contested shots and turning defense into transition opportunities for easy looks.
The win follows an opening-night 64-52 victory over Keefe Tech, a game in which Bryton Buckley led with 19 points and Joseph added 11. Blackstone Valley will look to keep building momentum when the Beavers host Hopedale tonight at 5 p.m., a matchup that promises to be BVT’s stiffest early test. Hopedale is 2-0 and brings balanced scoring and interior toughness to the matchup, so the Beavers will need to maintain the defensive intensity and ball-movement that have keyed their early success.
If Blackstone Valley can sustain that approach, the Beavers should be positioned to challenge for a top spot in the early-season standings.
