WESTBOROUGH – The Westborough Police Department will soon be able to bring on an additional patrol officer thanks to a federal Department of Justice grant. Chief Todd Minardi told the Select Board earlier this month that the grant will cover part of the new officer’s salary for three years, with the Town responsible for funding the remaining portion.
According to reporting from The Community Advocate, Minardi emphasized the growing need for added staff, noting that the department responds to roughly 1,000 calls for service each year—far above the recommended maximum of 700 calls for a police force of Westborough’s size.
