The Northbridge Rams advanced to the D7 semifinals with a dominant 49-20 victory over the Millbury Woolies last Friday night. The Rams were relentless, continuing a season-long pattern of big plays and balanced production that has them sitting atop the bracket at 9-1 (including playoffs).
Mo Rodney Daigle was the game’s standout, rushing 17 times for 215 yards and three touchdowns while consistently forcing Millbury defenders to account for his speed and power. Northbridge quarterback Joel LaChapelle added a huge all-purpose day, 176 yards from scrimmage and four total scores, steering the Rams’ multifaceted attack.
Northbridge built an early cushion with 14 points across the first three quarters that Millbury could not overcome, even with a spirited effort from QB Matteus Mateo, who finished with 208 yards and a rushing touchdown. Northbridge’s offense struck in waves, and the defense limited Millbury’s ability to sustain drives.
The Rams will face the top-seeded Cohasset Skippers in the semifinals Saturday at 1:30 PM at Woburn High. Cohasset (8-2) enters riding a four-game winning streak and a commanding 42-6 quarterfinal win over Rockland in which QB Michael Wildfire accounted for 196 yards and three TDs. Northbridge will need its full complement of playmakers and a stout defensive plan to punch its ticket to the championship game.
