HOPKINTON – The Hopkinton Cemetery Commission is moving forward with long-term plans to expand Mt. Auburn Cemetery, aiming to address future space needs.
According to the Hopkinton Independent, initial design work completed over the summer outlines an expansion to 1,240 burial lots and includes a widened access road.
At this week’s meeting, the Commission and the Department of Public Works Director discussed placing the project into the Town’s 2030 planning cycle so they can pursue funding. The estimated cost is around $1.5 million, and officials say the goal would be to have the expansion completed by 2040.
