The Hopedale boys cross-country program turned in a strong performance at the MIAA D3 Central Sectional, finishing second among 11 schools and narrowly missing the top spot. The Blue Raiders posted a team score of 347, placing them nine points ahead of the third-place team and underscoring both their pack strength and top-end talent across the roster.
Individually, Colin Haynes delivered a standout effort, posting a 79 and tying for second overall, just behind Ayer-Shirley’s Reid Ohanesian, who shot a 78. Haynes’ result capped a section of season performances in which Hopedale has shown depth, multiple scorers capable of finishing near the front of a championship field. The team enters this achievement after a 6-1 regular-season ledger and a dominant win over Sutton that featured Quinn Cook and Ben Stone securing the top overall times, with Colin Fitzgibbon also finishing among the leaders.
Hopedale’s sectional result confirms the program’s status as one of the region’s most reliable teams and sets up a confident approach heading to the CMAC East XC Championship at Ghiloni Park. The Blue Raiders will rely on consistent pack running, a low variance in finishing positions, and continued top performances from their leaders to translate sectional momentum into championship success. With the postseason approaching, Hopedale’s balance and strong individual results make them a team to watch.
