Uxbridge’s girls cross-country squad rebounded this week after a mixed meet that produced a split result. The Spartans had a tough outing against Whitinsville Christian, where the Crusaders swept the top five finishing positions, but Uxbridge answered with a strong victory over Douglas on Tuesday. In the win, Quinn Gilmore led the day with an excellent 23:42 time over the 3.1-mile course, while teammates Abby Speicker, Alysa Friis, Paige Foley, and Ava Twohig-Mann delivered the supporting finishes that secured the team result.
Uxbridge now sits with a solid overall record and appears capable of stringing results together as the season progresses. The squad’s bounce-back performance underlined the team’s mental toughness; after being swept in one meet, they refocused and executed on the road. Gilmore’s consistent top finishes have been a key factor, and the Spartans’ depth has begun to show as the season moves on.
Coaches will look for more of the same poise and consistency when Uxbridge heads into its next scheduled meets. If the Spartans can keep Gilmore and the supporting core in top form, they will be well-positioned to challenge the stronger programs in the region.
