The Nipmuc Warriors’ boys’ soccer squad hit the road to Sutton and came away with a 3-0 defeat on Wednesday afternoon. Sutton’s balanced attack produced goals from Sean Venuti, Ryan Elliot, and Matt Mulderig, while Nipmuc struggled to find offensive traction in what ended up being a tidy performance from the Sammies. The Warriors had been riding a strong run recently, four wins and two draws across their last six matches, and this loss serves as a setback they will look to correct quickly.

Nipmuc’s defense was tested repeatedly, and the visitors could not convert a handful of early chances that might have changed the complexion of the contest. Despite the disappointing result, the Warriors sit near the top of the CMAC B division and remain capable of responding. Their next match is a home meeting with the BVT Beavers this afternoon at 3:30 p.m., a team that has had trouble with consistency this year. BVT entered the day at 3-4-4 after a recent win over Hopedale, so Nipmuc should expect a scrappy opponent.

Coach and players will emphasize regrouping defensively and finding sharper combinations through midfield to unlock the attack. If Nipmuc can reset its structure and renew intensity on both sides of the ball, this defeat can be a short-lived hiccup on an otherwise strong season.
