Franklin’s football program has found traction after a rocky start, stringing together much stronger performances in recent games. The Panthers opened with a 34-0 loss to Canton and followed with a 23-14 setback, but they have since turned things around with a narrow 21-18 win over Brockton and a dominant 36-0 victory against Algonquin.
Against Algonquin, Franklin’s offense operated with balance and explosiveness. Running back Alex Weber showcased his big-play ability with a 44-yard touchdown and an 85-yard score, giving the Panthers the ability to flip field position instantly and put pressure on opposing defenses. The offensive line’s push and timely blocking opened running lanes that allowed the backfield to succeed.
Defensively, Franklin tightened up and played complementary ball, allowing the offense to build momentum. The Panthers now prepare to host a tough Taunton squad at home tomorrow at 6 p.m. Taunton is 3-1 and averaging 35 points per game, so Franklin will need another complete performance on both sides of the ball.
Franklin will be successful if they can sustain the play that produced the Algonquin blowout, centered around explosive runs from Weber, and consistent defensive stops. Make sure to watch their next outing to see if they can against the Tigers.
