Medfield Warriors Football Soaring to 4-0

The Medfield football team has been fantastic this season, soaring to a 4-0 record thanks to a dynamic offense and explosive playmakers. The Warriors have averaged a whopping 39.25 points per game through four contests, putting up wins over Weston, Dracut, Hopkinton, and, most recently, Nipmuc. A dominant rushing attack has been the backbone of their success.

Barry McCormack has been the clear RB1, averaging 220 yards per game on the ground and already tallying five touchdowns. He consistently wears down opponents and forces teams to choose whether to stack the box or risk giving him single-coverage on the perimeter. Matteo Benso has been a valuable complement, averaging 83.5 rushing yards per game and adding a pair of scores to keep defensive fronts honest.

Medfield’s passing game is used surgically. Quarterback Owen Sokolowski picks his spots, and the game plan often calls for the rush to set up the few but high-impact throws. Against Hopkinton, for example, the rushing attack dominated while Owen attempted just two passes, completing both for touchdowns.

Coming off a 44-22 victory over Nipmuc, the Warriors will face a strong 3-1 Medway squad this Friday at 6 p.m. Medway averages 37.5 PPG, so this will be Medfield’s stiffest test yet. Expect McCormack to get a heavy workload and for Medfield to try to control tempo and keep Medway’s offense off the field.
