Dean College has been honored for their restoration work at Franklin’s historic cemetery. The Franklin Historical Commission has given the Dean College Humanities in Action Team the first ever Mary C. Morrissey Olsson Historic Preservation Award which is named for the former chairperson and advocate for historic preservation. Dean students and staff have been restoring grave markers and maintaining the grounds in the Union Street Cemetery. They first had to dedicate themselves to understanding the proper techniques and materials used in historic cemetery preservation.
