The Northbridge Rams girls’ soccer team opened the season in emphatic fashion, downing Bay Path RVT 6-0 in a statement victory. Northbridge took control from kickoff and put the game away early, scoring four times in the first half. Kallie Tevepaugh and Brooklyn Thibeault each netted a pair in that opening frame, and the Rams’ defense completed the job by shutting out Bay Path.
That result is particularly notable given Bay Path’s strong 15-2-1 campaign a year ago, which earned them the No. 15 seed in D4. Northbridge come off a successful 13-2-3 season and the No. 8 seed last year; the Rams advanced to the round of 8 before being eliminated by eventual champion Sutton. The lopsided season opener signals the Rams want to pick up where they left off and take another run at the state crown.
Northbridge now turns its attention to Weston this Saturday afternoon and will look to build on the momentum. With an early offensive outburst and a stingy back line, the Rams have sent a clear message to the rest of the division: they’ll be a difficult matchup all season long.
