Fresh off All-Star festivities, where six Bravehearts represented the club and Jackson Marshall reached the Derby semifinals, Worcester returned to regular-season play but couldn’t recapture its groove, dropping both games of a doubleheader to the Norwich Sea Unicorns.
In Game 1, a 3–2 loss, Damien Carter delivered a quality start, working four innings of one‑earned‑run ball with six strikeouts and just two hits allowed. Norwich’s timely hitting provided all the offense they needed.
Game 2 proved more lopsided. Worcester managed only four hits, singles by Jackson Marshall, Nick Pappas, Will Kraemer, and Kaleb Woodward, as Sea Unicorns ace Frank Spirito twirled eight shutout innings, fanning nine while surrendering four hits. Starting pitcher Evan Cornelius gave up two runs while Stephen Rickert and Josh Fischer combined to give up three runs in relief, sealing a convincing 8–1 defeat.
Despite the sweep, Worcester maintains a slim edge in the season series, leading Norwich 6–5 overall. The Sea Unicorns’ back‑to‑back victories mark their first series win over the league’s No. 1 seed this year. Tonight, the Bravehearts open a three‑game set against the Vermont Lake Monsters, an opportunity to rebound and reclaim momentum in the FCBL’s crowded playoff race.
