Hopkinton Water Crisis: Town Urges Immediate Lawn Watering Ban Amid Critical Supply Levels and Fire Safety Concerns

Hopkinton’s Water-Sewer Manager says it is imperative that you stop watering your lawn to conserve the town’s water supply. Eric Carty says there has been a dramatic increase in water use over the past week during the current heat wave and even though the town is under a no-lawn-watering restriction due to low groundwater levels, he says crews out canvassing have seen a large number of lawn sprinklers running. Carty says with the current demand, all town sources are barely maintaining tank levels and they need to fill the tanks to have water available for firefighting as well as reliable drinking water.
