Former Hopkinton Police Officer John “Jay” Porter is scheduled to be sentenced this afternoon for three counts of rape of a child. Porter was found guilty by a jury earlier this month following a 3-day trial based on charges that stemmed from sexual encounters he had with a student when he was a Hopkinton school resource officer in 2004 and 2005. The judge revoked his bail and ordered him to stay in custody until he is sentenced. Porter had been with the Hopkinton Police Department for more than 30 years.
