Hopkinton’s municipal aggregation plan to allow residents and businesses to buy power at a fixed rate at presumably lower prices has been approved by the state. The Hopkinton Independent reports at this week’s Select Board meeting the Town Manager said the Department of Public Utilities has approved Hopkinton’s plan called Hopkinton Power Choice which fixes electricity prices under a long-term contract and offers a way to use cleaner energy sources. Next up they need to nail down a supplier and then will send out information to the public on what it means and how to opt in or out.
