Eversource and National Grid have submitted proposals to the state Department of Public Utilities to cut customer’s gas bills by 10% for March and April. As we reported Monday, the DPU ordered the state’s six gas companies to reduce energy bills by at least 5% for the rest of the peak season to help consumers whose bills have become what the DPU called “unsustainable” with some seeing a 27% hike in heating costs. Eversource says their 10% proposal should decrease the average bill by $34 in March and $20 in April. National Grid customers would go down around $40 for each month.
