As the Hopkinton Select Board and other officials continue to whittle their way to a Fiscal Year 2026 budget, this week’s meeting had some public comment from citizens voicing their priorities such as services for seniors. The Hopkinton Independent reports the secretary from the Council on Aging said that in 2020, Hopkinton’s population of those 60 and older was 19% but within 5 years that will be 27%. A community needs assessment done last year indicated mounting challenges for seniors such as lack of affordable housing, cost of living and limited transportation for people who can’t drive.
