A trial date has been set in the case of a woman suing Milford Police for the shooting death of her son. Vivienne Ptak has a 14-count lawsuit including wrongful death and civil rights violations claiming the officer who shot Philip Castonguay III at his home in 2020 knew he had mental health issues because the department had been there before. The Daily News reports police were responding to a call that alleged Castonguay was hitting someone with a metal pipe. The DA concluded that the use of deadly force was lawful. Ptak is suing for $5 million. A jury trial will begin in October in US District Court.
