Hopkinton Approves Zoning Overlay for MBTA Communities Act Compliance

By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Hopkinton Town Meeting voters have said yes to a zoning overlay plan for the town to be in compliance with the state’s MBTA Communities Act which aims to plan for the eventual availability of more housing near transit. Town officials worked on various plans for nearly two years and at Monday’s Town Meeting, voters approved a zoning overlay district that includes the Preserve and Walcott Valley condominium developments as well as downtown. While not a landslide the vote was definitive: 236 for and 167 against.
