By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Some Hopkinton residents still have dirty water and could for the rest of the week following an incident early Tuesday morning in which someone apparently opened a hydrant and let it run for about 20 minutes. The Water Department says the changes in pressure to the system stir up sediment and the process of turning pumps on and off to restore the flow keeps it stirring. Water and Sewer Director Eric Carty tells the Hopkinton Independent it will take a few days to clean up. He says the water is safe despite its brown color, but it is not recommended for doing laundry. To clear it, run your cold water tap for a while.
