By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Lake Maspenock is going to be closed to swimming, boating and fishing on Monday and Tuesday as the Hopkinton Parks and Recreation Department moves forward with an herbicide to control the growth of weeds in the lake. Solitude Lake Management has been tapped for the application which town officials tell the Hopkinton Independent is a mixture of endothall and diquat. They say not only is the weed level already higher than usual so early in the summer, but they’ve also discovered a new species of invasive weed. Herbicides are just one of many approaches they are using for the problem.
