Walter J. Barnes Jr., 93, of Bellingham, MA passed away on November 17, 2024 with loving family by his side. He was born February 18, 1931, the son of the late Walter J. Barnes Sr. and Helen D. (Buckley) and was raised in Belmont, MA. Walter retired from UPS in 1993 and was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Walter is survived by his daughters Debra Hoover and her husband Gregg of Harpers Ferry, WV, Nancy Barnes of Milford, MA, Judy Johnson and her husband Matt of Bellingham, MA, and Sally Barnes of Milford, MA. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Marshall Rosenlund, Jennifer Earl, Morgan Rosenlund, Rebecca Rossetti and husband Vincent, great grandchildren Jordan Mutschler and Mack O’Dell, and his son-in-law Edward Almedia, He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jane M. (Kinsella) Barnes, of 67 years, his son Kevin M. Barnes, his daughter Valinda Almedia, and his sister Louise Grennell.
He enjoyed the many cruises he took with his wife, loved walking the Southern New England Trunkline Trail and going camping with his family. He was an avid music and sports fanatic. Walter leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 10AM at Cartier’s Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St., (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Burial will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Monday, November 25th from 5PM to 7PM at the funeral home.
