Steve's legacy of love and laughter is also carried on by his brother, David J. O'Connell of Pascoag, RI, and his sister, Erin L. Paul, along with her husband Jon of Newtown, CT. His joyful spirit will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Tyler and Anderson Paul, as well as Calder, Sterling, Averill, and Mostyn Hollond, and the numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who were an integral part of his life.
He was born on November 7, 1977, in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Stephen and Janice (Jessop) O’Connell of Smithfield, RI and was a graduate of Smithfield High School in RI. Steve had a unique ability to make the most out of every situation he was involved in, often running on what came to be affectionately known as "O'Connell time."
His interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid sports fan and active athlete in numerous sports. A lover of music, Steve found solace and joy in melodies and lyrics. His faith was important to him, and he was an attendee at Valley Chapel in Uxbridge. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Whitinsville Christian School community and athletics program.
Above all, Steve's world revolved around his family, who were the center of his life. He relished in the simple pleasures of family gatherings, sharing stories, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and the power of optimism, even in the face of life's challenges.

Funny, optimistic, and friendly—these words only begin to scratch the surface of a man who was so much more to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
