Born in Milford, Sonia was the daughter of Carlos Benjamin and his wife, Marcia, of Mendon, and Isabel Cordeiro and her partner, Jorge Goncalves, of Millville. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 2024, and was attending Emmanuel College in Boston, where she was majoring in Biochemistry. Sonia also worked as a transporter at Milford Regional Medical Center.
Sonia loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, and trying new cuisines, finding happiness in the experiences and time shared with the people she loved.
In addition to her parents and stepparents, Sonia is survived by her sisters, Ashley Benjamin and Liliana Benjamin, both of Millville; her stepsister, Barbara Silva of Mendon; her stepbrothers, Paulo Goncalves of London, England, and Pedro Goncalves of Montalegre, Portugal; her paternal grandmother, Maria Benjamin of Milford; her maternal grandparents, Jose and Liliana Cordeiro of the Azores, Portugal; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Eduardo Benjamin.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 17th, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, located at 46 Water Street in Milford.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Winter Street in Milford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sonia’s memory to the Jimmy Fund, located at 10 Brookline Place West on the 5th Floor of Brookline, Massachusetts.
