Salvatore P. Cimino, 92, of Holliston
1934 - 2026

Sal was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Frank L. Cimino and the late Lottie (Spiegel) Cimino. He attended Milford public schools and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1951.

A dedicated patriot, Sal was a proud veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956.

Sal began his professional career as a young man for the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company, working at the Milford location as manager of the meat department. His leadership and expertise led him to advance within the company, eventually serving as regional manager of their various stores and later regional manager of their meat plant located in Marlboro MA.

From an early age, Sal developed a deep interest in civic service, influenced by his father’s involvement in local politics. That passion led him to serve his hometown in multiple capacities, first as a Milford town meeting member and as a member of the Milford School Committee. His dedication to public service culminated in his election as State Representative for the Milford area from 1978 to 1980, where he was the first freshman legislator to be named “Legislator of the Year” by his colleagues, an achievement he held with great pride.

Following his legislative service, Sal began working as an investigator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transportation, a role he held from 1981 to 2002. During that same period, he was also a small business owner, owning and operating Cimino’s Market located in Milford from 1981 to 1990.

Sal remained deeply connected to the Milford community throughout his life. He continued to serve as a member of the Milford Board of Selectmen and a member of the Milford Sewer Board, along with numerous other town boards & committees, including the Geriatric Authority Board of Trustees.

A man of faith and service, Sal was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford MA. He was also a proud member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford MA and the VFW, and a member of the Hoboken Citizens Club of Milford. In his younger years, he generously gave his time as a volunteer coach for the Milford Little League Baseball and a volunteer for the Milford Boy Scouts Troop.

Along with his beloved wife of 66 years, Sal is survived by his 3 children: David Cimino of Upton MA, Lori Dunlavey and her husband Michael Dunlavey of Bellingham MA and Amy Kelley of Holliston MA; his daughter-in-law: Lynn Nelson of Yarmouthport MA; his 8 grandchildren; his 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Sal was the father of the late Salvatore F. “Terry” Cimino who died in 2025 and the grandfather of the late Craig Nelson who died in 1999.
