Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Russell was the son of the late Edward C. and Norberta M. (Maziarski) Abisla. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Bridgewater State University, where he became actively involved in the Fall River reCreation Program, forming friendships that lasted throughout his life.
Russell built a diverse and accomplished professional career. He worked for a national delivery service as a Supervisor for many years before transitioning into the technology field. In that role, he handled software installations, troubleshooting, and user training for various technology companies. He took great pride in sharing his expertise and enjoyed traveling to various destinations, both domestically and abroad, for system implementations and training sessions.
Deeply committed to his community, Russell was a Milford Town Meeting member for many years and served as Vice Chairperson of the Milford Town Library Renovation project, a role he approached with dedication and care. He was also a member of the Monomonock Sporting Club in Rindge, New Hampshire, where he valued the camaraderie and enjoyed family gatherings.
In his leisure time, Russell was an avid book reader, canoer, and fisherman, pursuits that reflected his thoughtful nature and love of the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two brothers, Richard C. Abisla, MD (wife Margaret “Margy”) of Falmouth, and his twin brother Robert M. Abisla (wife Jennifer Heywood) of Gardner, along with many nieces and nephews.
