1929 - 2025
Born in Milford on August 22, 1929, Roma was the eldest of six children of their mother, Maria. She graduated from Milford High School and went on to study at Burdette College in Boston. Early in her career, she worked at Porter Shoe and later owned a fabric store in Milford, but the true focus of her life became her family, especially her two children, Lisa and Adam.
Roma’s home was a gathering place, and her backyard pool was always a hub of activity, drawing nieces, nephews, siblings, and cousins together every summer. She enjoyed quiet pastimes as well—working on jigsaw puzzles, spending hours cross-stitching, and listening to her favorite “stories.” A passionate sports fan, she rooted wholeheartedly for the Red Sox and Patriots, often making playful wagers during big games—usually for “one big buck.”
Roma is survived by her sister Rita Nealon of Milford, her brother Matteo Berardi and his wife Marilyn of Lynnfield, and her brother Dr. Robert Berardi of Milford, along with many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was predeceased by her husband, as well as her brother Dr. Romeo Berardi and sister Mary Sayles.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, followed by a 1 P.M. funeral home service. Burial will take place privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital.
