Mr. Robert L. Hinckley, 88, of Milford MA died Saturday (April 20, 2024) at Blaire House of Milford after a period of declining health.
Robert was born in Boston MA, the son of the late Harold Hinckley and the late Mildred (Ochs) Hinckley. He attended Boston public schools, graduating from high school. He then was a graduate of UMASS-Amherst, Class of 1951 and later attained his PhD from UMASS-Amherst.
Robert was first employed as a systems analyst upon graduation from UMASS-Amherst. He later was employed as a professor of economics at UMASS-Amherst. Later in life he became a self employed landscape gardener residing in San Rafel CA, from which he retired in 2000.
Robert was a practicing Buddhist and had a keen interest in Eastern religions & beliefs. He also loved painting & gardening.
Robert is survived by his 2 daughters: Sandra J. Hinckley of Scarborough ME and Karen A. Hinckley of McFarland WS; his 3 grandchildren: Joy Goddard of Casco ME, Arianna Burns of Portland ME and Melissa Morningstar of Portland ME; his 4 great grandchildren: Lilirose Proctor of Norton MA, Dubin Proctor Jr. of Norton MA, Cameron Goddard of Casco ME and Callie Goddard of Casco ME; his 2 siblings: Paul Hinckley of Scituate MA and Ruth Paulsen of NH; also several nieces & nephews.
Robert was the grandfather of the late Dubin Proctor of Norton MA who died in 2019 and the brother of the late Edward & the late Evelyn.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will be held on a DAY & TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA.
