Robert L. “Bob” Mayle, 82, of Upton
April 15, 1943 — November 5, 2025

Born in Philippi, West Virginia, Bob was the son of the late Thomas and Regina (Kennedy) Mayle. He was raised and educated in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, where he was a talented athlete in wrestling and track — and, most importantly, where he met his high school sweetheart, Nancy Sloneker. After graduation, Bob earned his associate’s degree from the Allegheny Technical Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, PA.

Bob and Nancy began their life together in Phoenix, Arizona, where he started working for Motorola. After thirteen years, they relocated to Milford, Massachusetts, where Bob built a long and fulfilling 34-year career with Motorola before retiring.

A man of many interests, Bob found joy in gardening, landscaping, and tackling home projects, both big and small. He had a deep appreciation for family history and dedicated himself to creating treasured genealogy and photo books that celebrated his family’s story. A passionate sports fan, Bob proudly rooted for the New England Patriots, and above all, he cherished time spent with family — especially his grandchildren — and the many friendships he formed throughout his life.

In addition to his beloved wife, Nancy, Bob is survived by his children, Kyle Mayle and his wife Sandy of Pepperell, MA, and Mitzi Carpenter and her husband Chris of Suffolk, VA; his adored grandchildren, Emily Mayle, Joshua Mayle, and Zachary Carpenter; and his siblings, Rachel Dulaney of Harrisburg, PA, Ronald Mayle of Jupiter, FL, Sue Etter and her husband Charles of Palmyra, PA, and Tammy Pressley and her husband John of Harrisburg, PA. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, at 11:00 A.M. at the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

A period of visitation will precede the service from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Bob will be remembered for his kindness, devotion to family, and the quiet strength that guided him through a life well-lived and deeply loved.
