Robert D. Lorenzo, 59, in Waltham
March 8, 1966 - October 12, 2025

Robert “Rob” D. Lorenzo, 59, of Milford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Tanya N. (Byers) Lorenzo.

Born on March 8, 1966, in Waltham, Rob was the son of the late Louis and Anita (Fagan) Lorenzo.

A proud graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1984, Rob dedicated more than three decades of his life to serving his community. He spent 32 years with the Milford Fire Department, where he served with honor, integrity, and compassion. His career was defined by his commitment to helping others, both in moments of crisis and in everyday acts of kindness. In addition to his service as a firefighter, Rob worked for the Milford Public Schools, delivering food to local schools, and served as superintendent at Hopedale Village Cemetery, tending the grounds with great care and respect.

Rob’s love for life extended far beyond his work. He was an avid poker player, known for his sharp mind and good humor at the table. He loved pub trivia, where his team—“almost famous,” as he proudly joked—competed weekly. A lover of the outdoors, Rob enjoyed fishing, golf, and hunting, and found great joy in cruise vacations shared with family and friends.

Above all, Rob was a family man. He cherished every moment with his wife, children, and extended family. Known affectionately as “the mayor of Milford” by his children, Rob seemed to know everyone in town—always stopping to share a smile, a story, or a laugh. His warmth and friendliness made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya (Byers) Lorenzo, and his ex-wife, Debra. He also leaves behind his son, Drew Lorenzo, and his wife Marissa (Matos) Lorenzo, of Milford; his daughter, Hayley Pirnie, and her husband Tyler, of Milford; and his stepson, Samuel Colin, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was a beloved brother to Louis Lorenzo and his wife Carrie, of Caribou, Maine; Linda Taylor, of Clinton; and Laura Lorenzo, of Orange. He was predeceased by his half-brother, Tony Portengale, of the U.K. Rob is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
