Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years and was honored with several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
He devoted 20 years of his career to Carling Brewery in Natick, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly personality. He later continued his career at Raytheon for another 20 years before retiring in 2001. Throughout his working years, Robert earned the respect of his colleagues for his reliability and the genuine care he showed toward others.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox. In his younger years, he also found enjoyment in collecting stamps and baseball cards.
Robert was predeceased by his beloved son, Robert Cowen Jr., as well as Doris Cugini, Francis Ferigno, Marshall Cowen, John Cowen Sr., Nancy Grosser, and Mildred O'Toole.
He is survived by his brothers, Ronald Cowen and William Cowen, and his sister, Shirley Bonvino.
Funeral services will be held privately.
