Robert “Bob” Franklin Shannon, 92, of Medway
1934 - 2026

Bob was the son of the late Martin H. Shannon and Lillian B. Balcom of Medway.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lois A. (Desantis) Shannon, to whom he was devoted for 70 years of marriage, and by their daughter, Laurie A. Shannon Peaslee of Westborough. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Richard C. Shannon and Alice (Shannon) Tingley of Medway.

Bob is survived by his son-in-law, William Peaslee, who lovingly cared for both Bob and Lois following the loss of their daughter. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

A proud patriot, Bob honorably served his country three separate times. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard, later in the United States Army Reserve at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and in 1957 was transferred to the 551st in Munich, Germany.

Throughout his working life, Bob was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked as the head custodian for the Millis Public School system before later serving as a school bus driver for many years. Earlier in life, he worked as a cook — a passion that remained with him throughout the years.

Bob found joy in gardening and took pride in sharing the vegetables and produce he grew each season. He and Lois were also lifelong 10-pin bowlers who traveled throughout the country competing in national tournaments. Together with their daughter and son-in-law, they created lasting memories through many adventurous and memorable trips.

Bob had a gift for making connections with people wherever he went. His warmth, kindness, and easygoing personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford.

A reception will follow at Bob and Lois’s home in Milford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Milford Humane Society.
