1958 - 2025
From an early age, Robbin possessed a compassion beyond her years—Robbin struggled with a myriad of health conditions from birth, but she persevered and went on to become a standout in the nursing home social work field. During her studies at UMASS Amherst, Robbin helped create the gerontology program for others that were also interested in that specific branch of social work. She later earned her master’s degree and devoted her career to serving older adults as a geriatric social worker throughout Central Massachusetts. She retired in 2020 after many years at the former Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Northbridge. Her gentle nature, deep empathy, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on countless residents and families.
Robbin’s greatest joy came from her family. Robbin was beloved wife of Robert M. Hutchins for 34 years. Rob remained her constant source of strength throughout her illness, and together they raised their son, Jonathan Hutchins, of Milford. She cherished every moment spent with them and the life they created together.
Robbin was the first-born child of the late Robert H. Larson and the late Lucille (Robertson) Larson. She is survived by her loving siblings—Roger Larson (Cindy) of West Brookfield, Lianne Larson of Hopedale/Plymouth, Erik Larson of ME/FL, and Andrea Larson Ellsworth (Lee) of Milford—and by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Johnson (Harold). She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her.
One of Robbin’s deepest joys was the island of Nantucket—Robbin had a deep-seated love for Nantucket , given to her by her mother, and one that took root throughout her life. The one spot that truly calmed her soul. She returned as often as possible, finding peace in the familiar landscapes and memories held there. She also loved planting flowers and cultivating a garden that she both enjoyed and took pride in.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no services. The family asks that donations be made in her memory to any charity of one’s choosing—Robbin supported too many for us to choose one.
Robbin will be remembered for her compassion, her quiet strength, her devotion to family, and the warmth she brought to every life she touched.
