Richard F. Flynn, 88, of Wenham
1936 - 2025

Born on October 9, 1936, in Wenham, MA, Richard was the son of the late Bertram and Mary R. (Swasey) Flynn. He shared a lifelong love with his high school sweetheart, Shirley A (Luxton) Flynn, and took great pride in being a devoted father to his children, Kim F. Booth and her husband Toby of Hopedale and Richard F. Flynn, Jr. and his wife Diane of Hull.

A graduate of Beverly High School in 1955, Richard continued his education at the former Lincoln College before beginning a long and respected career. He spent 36 years at Varian Associates as a Quality Assurance Manager, where his sharp eye, high standards, and dedication earned him the admiration of colleagues. He retired in 1990, closing a career defined by integrity and excellence.

Richard lived a life grounded in service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for 8 years and committed 28 years to shaping young lives as a Boy Scout leader. His civic involvement also included work as a constable in Hamilton, MA, and service on the Hamilton Safety Building Committee, reflecting his lifelong dedication to community wellbeing.

Family was the heart of Richard’s world. He was a loving brother to James, Sally, and William, and cherished being a grandfather and great-grandfather to his grandchildren, Zachary and Bradley and his great-grandchildren Liam and Camille.

Funeral services are private.
