Philip A. LaBastie, 83, of Mendon
1943 - 2026

Philip A. LaBastie, 83, of Mendon, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7th, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline Rita (Couture) LaBastie.

Born on February 14th, 1943, Philip was the son of the late Austin and Augusta (Princepessa) LaBastie of Mendon. He was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Milford, Class of 1960, and proudly served his country as an Air Force veteran.

Following his military service, Philip began a long and dedicated career with Rosenfeld Concrete, where he worked for more than 30 years as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical skills, and dedication to his profession.

Outside of work, Philip found great joy in racing and working with his hands. He took great pride in his years as a circle track racer, competing in car #45 at Westborough Speedway alongside his good friend Sully Tinio. He also cherished the opportunity to work on a race car with his son Chad, creating lasting memories through their shared passion for racing.

Philip was a proud member of Teamsters Local #170 of Worcester and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, working around the family farm with his brother, and spending time with family and friends. He was a longtime member of St. Gabriel’s Parish in Upton.

He is survived by his two sons, Chad A. LaBastie and his wife, Michelle, of Mendon, and Philip A. LaBastie, Jr. of Mendon and his partner, Eileen Foley, of Franklin; his brother, Daniel LaBastie of Mendon; his sister, Patricia Victor and her husband, Richard, of Mendon; his grandchildren, Christopher Foley and Jorden Foley, both of Mendon; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, September 14th, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, located at 42 Congress Street in Milford.

Additional visiting hours will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00–10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, located at 151 Mendon Street in Upton.

Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
