Paul Donnelly, 85, of Millville
1940 - 2026

Paul proudly served in the United States Army. Following his service, he spent his entire teaching career in Sharon, Massachusetts, where he inspired generations of students with his creativity, compassion, and curiosity about the world. After a dedicated career in education, he eventually retired, though his love of learning, art, and people never faded.

A lifelong advocate for equality, Paul was a passionate supporter of gay rights and believed deeply in living authentically and openly. He built a vibrant and eclectic community of friends who reflected his warmth, individuality, and joyful spirit.

Paul loved to travel and truly lived life to the fullest. Whether through music, conversation, art, or quiet acts of kindness, he had a way of making people feel seen and valued.

Paul was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Thomas D. Hite, with whom he shared 45 years of companionship, friendship, and love. He was also predeceased by his mother, Mary Lalor Donnelly, with whom he shared a bond of love, laughter, and deep devotion, and by his father, Leo Donnelly, who was immensely proud of Paul’s vocal talents.

He leaves behind his sister, Mary MacDougall and her husband Robert of South Carolina; Nicole Messier and her husband Aaron of Charlton; and Elizabeth Frasca and her husband Matt of Mendon. He also leaves behind grandchildren Paul, Tim, Jonah, Hannah, Sam, Meghan, and Vincent; great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Harper, Wyatt, Sophie, and Stella; and many dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Those who knew Paul will remember his generous heart, his appreciation for life’s beauty, and the way he embraced each day with enthusiasm and grace. By living fully and openly, he made the world around him a more beautiful place.
