Paul A. Bertrand, 87, of Uxbridge
1938 - 2025

At the heart of Paul’s life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Loretta “Mickey” (Benjamin) Bertrand, with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion, music, and joy. He also leaves behind his daughter, Diane Moriarty and her husband, David, of Uxbridge; his daughter, Brenda Feeley and her husband, Brian, of Uxbridge; and his son, Michael Bertrand and his wife, Anna, of Sumterville, FL. Paul was a proud and loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and is also survived by his sister, Carol Laflamme of Warwick, RI.

Paul was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Church in Uxbridge and lived his faith through service and kindness. Professionally, he worked at the former Uxbridge Worsted before continuing his career as an accountant at National Grid in Westborough. Known for his calm demeanor and steady presence, Paul was a deeply supportive father and grandfather who never missed an opportunity to encourage those he loved. He was a familiar face at his grandchildren’s civic, artistic, and athletic events, always ready with a congratulatory handshake—often with “a dollar bill or two tucked into the palm of his hand.”

He was known for his warm sense of humor and enjoyed family vacations, playing cards, and crossword puzzles. A devoted sports fan, Paul especially loved the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox, while also remaining deeply invested in local athletics. He gave countless hours coaching Little League and Babe Ruth teams in Uxbridge, and his commitment to youth extended through St. Mary’s Boy Scout Troop 25, where he served as Scoutmaster and later as District Commissioner. His civic involvement included serving as Chairman of the town’s 250th Anniversary Parade and working on several local political campaigns.

Music and dance were lifelong passions shared by Paul and Mickey. In their younger years, they performed as a tap-dancing duo through Krylo Dance Studios in Woonsocket, RI, entertaining audiences across New England and later teaching ballroom dance together. Paul, an accomplished drummer, performed with his wife and extended family in several successful bands, including The Romy T. Quartet, The Esquires, and The Romy T. Quintet.
