Cheryl was born in Millbury, MA, the daughter of the late Clarence Miller and the late Loretta (Couture) Carroll Miller. She spent her early childhood in Millbury and later made Milford her home, having been a resident of Milford since 1961. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1968.
As a young woman, Cheryl began her working career at AT&T in Framingham, MA from 1968 to 1971. Years later, she returned to the workforce from 1990 to 1996 at The Body Shop in Milford, MA, working as a personal trainer, where her energy and enthusiasm for health and fitness were well known.
Cheryl embraced life with spirit and adventure. She was a member of the South Charlton Reservoir Association and loved water skiing in her youth. She also enjoyed motorcycle riding and bass fishing with her brother Rodney. An accomplished athlete, Cheryl was an avid softball player, participating in women’s softball leagues into her early forties. In more recent years, she found great joy boating with her granddaughters and her new great-grandson.
Along with her husband of 55 years, Donald, she is survived by her son, Dana Pickering and his wife Jacqueline of Milford, MA; her two granddaughters, Kayla A. Pickering of Melrose, MA, and Hannah I. Pickering Macedo and her husband Iago Macedo; and her great-grandson, Briggs. She is also survived by her sister, M. Elaine (Carroll) Ferrelli of Amesbury, MA; her brother, Robert Carroll of Millbury, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was the sister of the late Rodney K. Miller of Millbury, MA, and the late John Carroll of Las Vegas, NV.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (February 7th) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 17 Winter Street, Milford, MA. Burial of her cremains will follow in North Purchase Cemetery in Milford, MA. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
