Born in Framingham, James was the son of the late Frederick and Eunice (Blake) Dawson. He attended Framingham public schools and graduated from Framingham High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from the former Framingham State College.
James began his career working for a printing company in Framingham and later became a manager at W.A. Wilde Printing Company in Holliston. Later in life, he worked part-time at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
A talented athlete, James was an accomplished baseball player during his high school years. His love of the game continued throughout his life as he participated in various softball leagues. He was also an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, Lois, James is survived by his three daughters, Lori P. Konde and her husband, Stephen, of Worcester; Christine M. Dawson of Auburn; and Melissa D. Packwood and her husband, John, of Louisville, Kentucky. He also leaves five grandchildren, Jennifer Goldberg, Jarrett Packwood, Dawson Packwood, Jonathon Konde and Mackenzie Packwood; his brother, Blake Dawson and his wife, Louise, of Bourne; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to extend their condolences to James’s family on Tuesday, September 1st, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, located at 44 Congress Street in Milford.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow. A private committal service for his cremains will be held at Vernon Grove Cemetery in Milford at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Association, located at 223 W. Jackson Boulevard, Suite 350, in Chicago.
