1932 - 2025
Born and raised in Milford, Gene was the son of the late Alfred and Anna (Borghi) Cenedella. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial Schools and was a proud graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1950.
A U.S. Army veteran, Gene honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. A lifelong resident of Milford, he was a devoted communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and was deeply rooted in his community.
Gene worked in the construction industry throughout his life and owned and operated his own masonry business for more than 40 years. Known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship, he built a reputation as a man who could “make something out of nothing.”
A proud member of both the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 and the Milford Plains Association, Gene was also passionate about his vegetable garden and enjoyed spending quiet time observing the local bird population. He and his late wife were also part of a close circle of lifelong friends affectionately known as “The Bowling Group,” who bowled together in their younger days and continued to meet regularly for social gatherings and trips.
Gene is survived by his five children: Cindy Mina and her husband Peter of Shrewsbury; Richard Cenedella and his wife Faith of Milford; Timothy Cenedella and his wife Ellen of Milford; Jo-Ann O’Brien and her husband David Jr. of Upton; and Robert Cenedella and his wife Bobbi of Milford. He was the proud grandfather of Rachael Mina, Matt Mina, Alex Cenedella, Cassidy Cenedella, Brooke Cenedella, David O’Brien, Shannon O’Brien-Nguyen and her husband Andy Nguyen, Daria Cenedella, and Lucia Cenedella. He also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Cenedella, who passed away in 1971.
