August 24, 1930 - October 27, 2025
A proud Korean War veteran, Max served his country with honor before returning home to begin a long and fulfilling life centered around hard work, family, and the great outdoors. After his service, he worked as a land clearer and logger in Norwood. When he met his late wife, Charlene Grady, they moved to Mendon, where they raised four children on their cherished Christmas tree farm—a place that became the heart of family gatherings and lifelong memories.
Even after retiring, Max continued working at Peter Brook Saw Mill in Bellingham, where the Burr family became like a second family to him. In recent years, his devoted caretaker, Joanne Busker, became a dear friend and an essential part of his life, helping him maintain his independence in his beloved home until the very end.
Max will be remembered for his gentle soul, easy-going demeanor, and love for nature and animals. He found peace in the outdoors, enjoying long walks in the woods and the companionship of his cats.
He is survived by his children, John M. Grady and his wife Alena of Edgartown, and Corrina A. Yarush and her husband Vincent of New Hampshire. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren — Justin, Brianna and her husband Ben, Sawyer, Wyatt, and Christina — and his great-grandchildren, who brought him boundless joy.
Max was predeceased by his children Donna and Roger, and his granddaughter Kristii. His quiet strength, wisdom, and unwavering love made an indelible impact on all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood, MA.
Max will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a man of simplicity, kindness, and integrity whose life touched many hearts.
