Mary L. Kelleher, 70, of Boylston
1955 - 2025

Mary’s passion for athletics and wellness began early and followed her through college, where she received a bachelor’s degree in applied science (B.A.Sc.) Health and Wellness from Bridgewater State College in 1977. Mary played on several sports teams at Bridgewater and excelled in volleyball and lacrosse. Mary also played for the Boston Women’s Lacrosse Association.

After graduating, Mary dedicated her professional life to shaping the health and wellbeing of young people. She was employed by the Marlborough Public School system as a physical education teacher and over the years taught K–12 before being named Coordinator of Health and Wellness for the District. Coaching was another lifelong passion for her, and she coached several sports teams at Marlborough and Hudson Catholic High Schools, Holy Cross College and Clark University.

Mary found great joy in her second home by the ocean. Mary greatly enjoyed her time in Ogunquit by the sea with many friends there. Even after retiring from education, she stayed active and committed to service, working after retirement and, among other activities, serv[ing] on the Board of Directors for the TramutoPorter Foundation… and volunteer[ing] at Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

She is survived by the people who meant the most to her—her devoted life partner Cynthia Crowley and sisters and brothers Susan Primeau (Al), Stephen, Timothy (Traci), and Lynne Kall (Kevin), her beloved nieces and nephews Jessica, Jason, Stephanie, Jacob, Scott and Meaghan, her grandniece Lia and grandnephews Nicholas and Bailey, a large extended family and many lifelong friends.

Her funeral arrangements are as follows: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 9, at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St. Boylston. Interment will follow in Saint Thérèse Memorial Garden Columbarium outside the church. The family also wishes to acknowledge the medical team who cared for her: The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the UMass Memorial Critical Care Unit for their care and compassion.
