November 30, 1930 — October 4, 2025
Mary-jane was the beloved wife of the late Earle Chase, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Cherylann Taylor; Scott Chase and his wife, Maria; Laurie Rogers and her husband, James; and Jeffrey Chase and his wife, Sonja. She was also the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren—with two more on the way. Her son, Mark Chase, preceded her in death and is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Chase of California. Mary-jane is also survived by her sister, Gloria Gallagher.
A woman of many talents and interests, Mary-jane—affectionately known as “Gramma”—loved working with her hands and sharing her creativity with others. She enjoyed quilting, braided rug making, and singing with the Westboro Community Chorus. Her home was a reflection of her care and pride, always perfectly kept with colorful potted flowers and seasonal decorations welcoming guests at her door.
As the beloved matriarch of the Old Colony Drive neighborhood, Mary-jane was known and loved by all. It was rare to go anywhere with her without someone stopping to say hello. She cherished time spent outdoors, tending to her yard and entertaining family and friends on her deck overlooking her pristine pool and garden. The family pets held a special place in her heart, and evenings often found her relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine and a bowl of pretzels, basking in the afternoon sun.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary-jane’s memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515, or online at www.secondchanceanimals.org.
