1958 - 2026
Marc was born in Milford, MA, the son of the late Thomas Buckley and Dorothea Buckley. He was a graduate of King Philip High School, Class of 1975.
For more than three decades, Marc built a respected career in the construction industry, working as a union laborer and superintendent for Laborers’ Union Local #609 in Framingham, MA. His strong work ethic and hands-on leadership were evident to all who worked alongside him.
Marc had been a resident of Uxbridge since the late 1980s, after previously living in Norfolk, MA.
Marc lived life with passion and generosity. While he had many interests, his beloved wife, Sandra—the light of his life—was the most important thing to him. He loved entertaining family and friends and cooking for them, and he found joy in simple pleasures like working in his yard and tending the bird feeders. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and especially cherished riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Sandra to the ocean for lobsters and steamers.
Known as the original “motor head,” Marc had a passion for anything that included a motor. He was a drag racing enthusiast and loved working on anything with wheels. He was also an avid New England Patriots fan.
Above all else, Marc was a friend to everyone. Described as a “Gentle Giant,” he was patient, kind, and always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was genuinely a good man through and through who worked as hard as he loved.
Along with his beloved wife of 31 years, Marc is survived by his son, Marc Simmler Jr. of Florida; his sister, Dianne Matros and her husband Michael of Norfolk, MA; his niece, Crystal Buckley and her husband Joe Hamm of Medway, MA; and his grandnephew, Joseph Hamm, and grandniece, Kennedy Hamm, both of Medway, MA.
Funeral services will be held Friday (February 6th) at 11:00 a.m. at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford, MA. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow. A private committal service of his cremains will be held at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Thursday (February 6th) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
