Luis Manuel Pacheco Correia, 78, of Mendon
1947 - 2026

Born in Salga on the island of São Miguel, Portugal, Luis emigrated to the United States in 1971. His life was defined by hard work, perseverance, and devotion to his family.

Growing up, Luis helped tend his family's farm in the Azores, served in the Portuguese military, and worked at the Boston Fish Market before beginning a longtime career as an assembly worker with General Motors. Following his retirement, he found his greatest satisfaction tending his gardens, helping extended family members with home improvement projects, and spending time playing cards at the Portuguese American Club of Framingham.

Luis is survived by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Paula (Matias) Correia; his son, Louis Miguel Correia, his wife Amy, and their children, Dashel and Zoe, of Upton; and his daughter, Celeste Carvalho, and her sons, Hunter, Tyler, and Alex, of Mendon.

He was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Maria (Pacheco) Correia, and his brother, Francisco. He is also survived by his siblings, Nazaré, José, Jorge, Alzira, Daniel, and Ana, along with many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and an ever-growing extended family.

Luis dedicated his life to providing his children with opportunities he never had growing up. Despite facing numerous health challenges, he worked tirelessly to support his family and was especially grateful for the years he spent in retirement watching his grandchildren grow. Remembered for his sense of humor and straightforward outlook on life, Luis leaves behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 27th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish (151 Mendon Street, Upton). Refreshments for attendees will follow in the parish rectory.

Burial will be private and attended by his wife, children, and grandchildren at Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center through Joslin Giving.
